My love of fashion is quite shameless. I’m not past following a stranger closely in the street to read the brand name on their fabulous pair of jeans or to ask them where they found their buttery-soft-looking leather jacket. I’ve long coveted a black lambskin Dior Granville bag. If you see me carrying one you’ll know I’ve finally saved up the money and overcome the horror at the purchase price to buy one. Or I’ve scored a pre-loved bargain on eBay, which is more likely and considerably less guilt-making. I also long for a Lanvin Amalia bag in silky soft black leather. Something about quilted bags just really does it for my sense of the fabulous.

But what’s my fashion weakness, the object that I am constantly searching for and can never get enough of? Some women have vast collections of shoes but jackets are my downfall. Recently I’ve added a cream silk Louis Feraud sixties jacket with a soutache embroidered collar to my collection as well as a cream wool belted suit jacket and a beige wool skirt and jacket set. I just don’t feel properly dressed without a fabulous fitted jacket. And they really knew how to do jackets in the sixties. Note that not a single one of my recent additions has been black! Although, it’s true that a stunning black sixties jacket is the Holy Grail for me! What is it about sixties jackets that I love? Well, they’re fitted and often tailored from the most beautiful fabrics. They just make me feel smart and ‘styled up’.
