Vintage style

Who doesn’t love a vintage up-do?

One of the easiest ways to adopt some vintage glamour for a special occasion is to have your hair styled in a classic up-do. I have had a sixties hairdo created for me by a hair stylist for a number of parties and it never fails to make me feel fabulous. Of course, it takes real skill to do your own hair in a beehive, but there are a number of salons around that will create a wonderfully elaborate retro hairdo for you. My mum is still a dab hand at creating an ‘up-do’ and has been known to style my hair. There are also some books now on the market that demonstrate step by step how to create amazing vintage hairstyles.

The benefit of a sixties hairstyle is that invariably there’s so much hairspray and a plethora of hairpins holding it in place that it’s not going to budge for at least another day without some serious intervention and encouragement! I’ve been known to venture out for breakfast the morning after a party and for other diners to stop me and compliment me on my day-after hair.
